We’re very sad to announce the passing of FM founding guitarist Chris Overland.
We were very lucky to have some fantastic times together over the years.
Chris helped to write some of our most memorable songs and was regarded as one of Britain's best melodic guitarists.
We politely ask for respect and privacy to Chris’ family at this sad time.

ReplyDeleteThere are no words. This man has been a huge influence in my life from the beginning of FM. As one of the first members of the fan club, I was lucky enough to meet Chris on a few occasions and he was always so friendly and down to earth, as all of FM are to this day. The music Chris made with the band still lifts me, what a tragic loss of an incredible man. My love and comfort to Chris' family, Steve and the band and everyone suffering his loss x

ReplyDeleteJusty read the news, devastated one of my favourite guitarist. I followed FM from listening to them do their early BBC sessions before the release of the first album. Many memorable gigs at the Marque club. Loved the chemistry between the brothers.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear the news, my thoughts are with the Overland families.. I will always remember the first time I saw FM supporting Gary Moore at the Oxford Apollo, Chris has been a massive influence, inspiration and favourite guitarist. Thank you for your music.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gutted to hear this. Chris was super nice to me the few times I met him and was an absolute star getting a young 13 year old me into my first gigs. My condolences to his family, Steve and all the band. I was saddened when he left FM and I really am gutted to hear this sad news.
ReplyDeleteI have only just discovered this sad news, I'm truly devastated. Seeing FM at the Royal Court in Liverpool during the Tough It Out tour in 1989 was my first ever live gig. I was hooked on the band from that point on. I was even fortunate to get back stage and meet the band. All were amazing to meet, but Chris became my hero from that day on. Amazing guitarist that was quite underrated in my opinion. I was gutted when he left, but I still continued to follow FM, but was always hoping for a possible "original" line up gig. R.I.P Chris, you will indeed be missed. My deepest sympathy goes to all his family and friends.
